Admission

Basic undergrad requirements Year 12 ENTER/APAR score or equivalent year 12 results for school leavers. Non-school leavers must provide a personal profile addressing academic performance, work experience, personal accomplishments and circumstances, community involvement, and career goals.
Basic postgrad requirements Academic results plus personal profile (see above)
Basic postgrad research requirements Completion of LLB Honours degree
Australian undergrad deadline For semester one intake, all domestic students apply via VTAC by end of September; late direct applications can be made direct to Faculty of Law and Management (FLM) before mid February; mid-year applicants apply direct to FLM by early July. International students can apply year round, but are advised to apply at least 6 months prior to proposed admission date
Australian postgrad deadline Rolling admissions for all programs except Fraud Investigation, but application date may affect commencement date. Graduate Certificate in Fraud Investigation: apply by mid January; Graduate Diploma in Fraud Investigation: apply by early July.

Other Information

Can I do a summer term and reduce the length of the course? Undergraduate law students can take 5-day intensive law subjects in both summer and winter school to reduce work load in normal semesters and in some cases fast-track progression. Postgraduate coursework students can sometimes complete in less than a year depending on choice of subjects.
International students admitted? The university offers fee-paying places to international students.
Are there English assistance programs? The University has a Language and Academic Skills Unit known as LAS (ESL) which operates across all faculties. For further information see http://www.latrobe.edu.au/lasesl/ The Faculty of Law and Management has a Language and Academic Support unit with one staff member allocated to the law school.
Can I study for a stand alone LLB direct from school? Yes. But this program includes a non-law component and students are encouraged to transfer into a double degree.
Semesters per year Two semesters (March-June and July-October) for undergraduates plus limited Summer and Winter school options available (June-July and Dec-February). There are 3 intakes for postgraduates in GBL coursework masters programs: January, June and December. There are two intakes for undergraduates: late February and mid July.
Average annual LLB intake Approximately 250 per year
Are undergrad tutorials offered/standard size Size varies but normally 25 in tutorials; 30 in seminars.
Legal skills program Three unique clinical legal education subjects in LLB program at Melbourne campus which place students in West Heidelberg Community Legal Service, Preston Office of Legal Aid Victoria or with public interest law agencies; judicial mentoring program attached to two of our law subjects (Family Law and Criminal Procedure and Evidence); Crocket Chambers Barristers mentoring program; communication and advocacy skills subject taught by experienced criminal barrister from the Victorian Bar. Bendigo students can undertake a placement at Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Service, Victoria Legal Aid or the Advocacy and Rights Centre in Bendigo.
Graduate employment assistance Dedicated careers and placement officer within the School of Law who assists students with resumes, applications and interview preparation for both internships and graduate employment opportunities.
