Course name Tasmanian Legal Practice Course. Unique full-time very practical training program. Excellent advocacy training. Instruction by judges, magistrates and senior legal practitioners.
Award offered Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice (UTAS). Program exceeds the requirements of national competency standards.
Admission to practice s23 certificate (Legal Profession Act 1993) Successful completion of the Professional Legal Training Program results in the award of a s23 Certificate by the Board of Legal Education. Admissions occur approx. 21 days following graduation.
Course duration 26 weeks (late Jan/early Feb to approx. end third week in July).
One annual intake.
Attendance 9.00 am - 5.30 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays.
Commencement dates Late January/early February
Scholarships None. The Course is a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) which means that students may be eligible for HECS -HELP
Course fees (indicative)* HECS-HELP or 'cash'. Approx. $7,972 for domestic trainees in 2010.
Application deadline End October. Late applications not necessarily considered.
Acceptances notified December. Quota may apply. Queries to Centre for Legal Studies.
